Print this entryIs it okay to cook squash whole or do you need to seed them first? I bought a bunch of Delica and Buttercrisp squash in November. We’ve been slowly eating them but I still have several left. Was wondering if I could put them in the oven whole then clean the seeds out after cooking. Want to get them processed and into my freezer. Thanks in advance.Gina

Print this entryThis morning as I stared at a huge turkey it came to me that Thanksgiving is sort of the Super Bowl of cooking. So how did your game day go? Mine was exhausting but great. Turkey was moist and delicious. The highlight though were the side dishes. Fiercy’s sweet potato casserole was a big hit especially with the college kids. They inhaled Sherry’s crockpot dressing which I made with vegetable broth. We also has baked delica squash, corn casserole, green beans, potatoes and a cheesy broccoli dish. I has three vegetarian eaters so wanted to be sure they could enjoy everything but the turkey. We had a lot to be thankful for this year. Health, good friends, a safe home where no one is bombing us. It made the food taste even better I think. Happy belated Thanksgiving all.
Print this entryI remember last year someone posted a recipe that uses Jello’s pumpkin pudding flavor. Couldn’t find any then but grabbed some the other day. Now I can’t find the recipe. Could someone point me in the right direction. Many thanks.

Print this entryWas wondering if anyone had tried the new meal starters that are coming out. Progresso has several that didn’t look all that appealing. Philly cream cheese company has had some out for a while. Just curious.

Print this entryWe are doing the family cookout thing on Monday and I want to do grilled corn. I’ve used the regular method where you pull back the husks, remove the silk then replace the husks and soak the ears for a couple of hours before grilling. That method works okay but I was wondering if there might be a better way. Has anyone tried wrapping the ears in foil then putting them on the grill? Maybe with some flavored butter inside. Not sure what kind of meat we are doing yet. I’d like to take my meatloaf recipe and try that as a burger. Or maybe ribs. I need to see what meat is on sale since we haven’t butchered in a long time. Grilled pineapple for the first time a while back and it was good. A friend said to marinate it in some soy sauce first. Has anyone done that, how long to you leave it in? I’m in Colorado and it’s peach season so I’ll probably pick up some and either grill them or make a cobbler. What is everyone else doing?
