I made my annual ginger boys and I made a mistake that turned out to be a "Oh wow I know what I did wrong and I'm keeping it" one :)  In my recipe the flour gets blended in last but I got side tracked just after I added the baking soda water to the mix and it rose like bread yeast, I saw that and was sorely tempted to just throw it away but Scottish upbringing kicked in and I thought "Well if it works it works'  They were the best cookies I have ever made with this recipe and Ive been making them for nearly 50 years. :D   I think you’re right Becky.  It has been either snowing,raining or both here for about two weeks.  Today is the first day when the sun has been shining all day so far.
