Well I made the toffee I was telling you folks about.  Mixed results, I used waxed paper, it did not stick but it also did not set into a nice brittle which it should have done.  I think my kitchen was just not co-operating that day or I can’t beat it properly anymore  but oh well it was still tasty as a sort of nutty caramel type treat.

LOL!  I think we’ve all experienced that kind of kitchen ‘fun’!  So glad it was still a good treat!  Happy New Year!

Sometimes candy doesn’t come out properly when it’s too humid.  Might that have been the problem?  I try never to make it on a rainy day.

Glad your toffee was good even if it didn’t set.  Humid air can change how it turns out.

I think you’re right Becky.  It has been either snowing, raining or both here for about two weeks.  Today is the first day when the sun has been shining all day so far. I made my annual ginger boys and I made a mistake that turned out to be a “Oh wow I know what I did wrong and I’m keeping it” one :)  In my recipe the flour gets blended in last but I got side tracked just after I added the baking soda water to the mix and it rose like bread yeast, I saw that and was sorely tempted to just throw it away but Scottish upbringing kicked in and I thought “Well if it works it works’  They were the best cookies I have ever made with this recipe and Ive been making them for nearly 50 years. :D
