I scrub the outside of the squash....poke few holes in it with a knife lay it in microwave to soften enough to cut....then cut it....clean out the shell.... then put it back in the oven to finish baking... Butternut is my favorite...and just finished one... I use it as a snack too... love it.

If the squash is anything like a pumpkin, I would suggest that you cut them in half, horizontally, clean them out; place them, cut side down on a foil lined baking sheet and bake until they are fork tender. I think it would be much easier to handle a room temperature squash than one that is piping hot from the oven. Then all you need to do (once it has cooled considerably) is scrape out the squash from the shell, put it in a freezer safe container and you're done.

I believe that the instructions for baking pumpkin is already in the archive.

I usually boil mine, and have done them whole, but never forget to vent them before cooking. Steam has to have a way out.

I have cooked spaghetti squash in the microwave whole and then scooped out the seeds. I did put a few vent holes in the squash before cooking. I do not know about Delica or Buttercrisp.
