ISO hot cinnamon apple upsidedown cake
Getting ready to start our Christmas baking. DW wants to make her hot cinnamon apple upsidedown cake, but she can’t find the recipe. I know it uses apple rings and red hot candies. The red hots are melted in water, then the apple rings are added to the water to soak up the flavor. Can any one help?? If she does find it later, I’ll post it.

It’s not the one she used before, but she said that she could use it instead. thanks alot, Becky.
pepe, I haven’t found any other recipes like that. I hope that one works – I’ve never had cake like that so please let us know.
I sure will Becky. I’ll ask her to keep track of how she makes it and post it as soon as I can.
Thanks pepe. Looking forward to her version of the cake.
I found this at cooks.com, but I don’t know if it is similar to your DW’s recipe. This sounds delish though!
FRESH APPLE UPSIDE DOWN CAKE
1 pkg. yellow cake mix
3 apples, peeled and sliced thin
2 tbsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 cube butter
1 c. chopped pecans
3/4 c. brown sugar
3 tbsp. Red Hots candies
1. Pour melted butter in rectangle baking dish. 2. Toss apples with cinnamon and nutmeg, coating evenly. 3. Spread red hots evenly over butter in pan. 4. Sprinkle nuts, then apples, then all of the brown sugar over apples. 5. Prepare cake batter as per package instructions.
6. Gently….Pour batter over apple mixture. 7. Bake in preheated oven at 350 degrees for 30 to 45 minutes or until done when tested. 8. Remove from oven, set for 5 minutes only, then invert on serving plate, carefully. 9. I have also used a spice cake mix and a strawberry cake mix.
Becky, wife used the recipe you found. Seemed to turn out right, but we didn’t get a taste. It was a gift. Daughter tried it though and said it was good.
Blizlady, I’m going to print up the recipe and show it to DW. Hope she’ll try it. I know we have some red hots left. If she makes it I’ll let you know how it turns out. Thanks.
pepe, Glad your daughter liked the cake recipe. Let us know if you try the one Blizlady found, it looks good too.
