postheadericon Have you tried?

Print this entry

Was wondering if anyone had tried the new meal starters that are coming out.  Progresso has several that didn’t look all that appealing.  Philly cream cheese company has had some out for a while.

Just curious.

At the moment I’m peeved because few, if any, companies jar their products in jars that can be reused for canning purposes like they used to.  In my mind that is far better recycling!  Or Hellman’s now using plastic…..grrr….

postheadericon Recipe Challenge

I was just thinking what fun it would be to kick off the fall season if we each became a recipe developer.  Have you ever tried your hand (and mind) at creating a recipe that is truly all your own?  I don't think that I ever have, not completely anyway.  SO... I was wondering if anyone would be interested in giving this a try?????  If so, what kinds of guidelines (if any) would we need???  I'm Read more [...]

postheadericon Expiration Dates

How much attention do you give expiration dates? Are they set in stone as far as the quality of the food or are the dates merely suggestions? Do you think they are more important for some foods, such as dairy products, than for canned goods?  What about frozen foods? When did expiration dates start appearing on foods?  I don't remember them when I was growing up but maybe I just didn't pay Read more [...]

postheadericon Goodies that could be mailed

Print this entry

This year I would like to make some holiday goodies to mail to friends.  Would like recipes for  cookies, candy, or other treats that would stand up to the way boxes are handled by the post office?  Also, ideas for packing.

I hate ricotta, pumpkin, cloves, and white chocolate. There are probably more, but I can’t think of them right now.

postheadericon Searching for a little different somthing

Thanksgiving is next Monday here.  I am making a stuffed pork loin roast and am looking for a nice sauce or gravy to go with it.  The boys (my dear sons) and even I are getting a bit tired of the old tried and true cranberry so any suggestions will be gladly taken.
