October: Clergy Appreciation Month
Hi, Just wondering if anyone else is working on this during this month. We are taking meals in, trying to fill the freezer and cupboards for winter, soup and salad Sunday tomorrow, another potluck the last Sunday of the month, taking over some of her other responsibilities, gift cards, thank you notes, tomorrow we are going to do a ‘thank you flash mob” (that is, when asked if there any other announcements, we are all going to stand up and shout ‘we love you pastor, you are great’, the children are making special things, special prayer times, out to lunches or dinners, card shower, special readings, member’s poetry readings…that’s all I can think of at this point. I’m really excited to see how the flash mob thing goes! Always looking for more ideas if anyone has any to share…and maybe some of these ideas will help someone too. Also have thought about planting a tree in pastor’s honor… Have a Happy Saturday!
Sherry, gift cards for your pastor are a great idea. That allows her the opportunity to maybe eat somewhere special or purchase something she would really like or need.
I agree Becky. I do recall her saying one time about receiving a Walmart gift card that gave a lot of freedom to purchase what was wanted or needed at the time. We are also doing a sunshine basket that will be given the last Sunday of the month where we will be putting appreciation cards, gift cards, etc.
FYI: That flash mob thank you was GREAT! If you have a time that it would work, try it! Oh my gosh!!!!
So glad it was successful.
