Memorial Day grilling, ideas?
We are doing the family cookout thing on Monday and I want to do grilled corn. I’ve used the regular method where you pull back the husks, remove the silk then replace the husks and soak the ears for a couple of hours before grilling.
That method works okay but I was wondering if there might be a better way. Has anyone tried wrapping the ears in foil then putting them on the grill? Maybe with some flavored butter inside.
Not sure what kind of meat we are doing yet. I’d like to take my meatloaf recipe and try that as a burger. Or maybe ribs. I need to see what meat is on sale since we haven’t butchered in a long time.
Grilled pineapple for the first time a while back and it was good. A friend said to marinate it in some soy sauce first. Has anyone done that, how long to you leave it in?
I’m in Colorado and it’s peach season so I’ll probably pick up some and either grill them or make a cobbler.
What is everyone else doing?
Hi, Gosh, I thought I had replied to this a day or two ago. No signs of that post though. Who knows what I did or where I posted it these days!!! I had mentioned about cooking the corn-on-the-cob in the microwave by the method that’s been circulating on the net. 4 or 6 ears in a microwavable 13 x 9 x 2 dish with a little water. No husking ahead of time. Microwave them about 8 minutes, pull them out, cut off the stem end, and shake the corn out holding onto the silky end. Works so well, no mess, corn is great, and cleanup a cinch! There has to be a video of this somewhere online. I love meatloaf so am sure those burgers would work for me, and the grilled pineapple with the soy also sounds like a winner! Hope you’re have a great day without the rain we’re getting here!
