Sometimes it is impossible to cook without making a mess.  And some foods really stain!

Do you wear an apron?  Is it a full body type or a half body style?

What fabric is it?  Do you have a ‘working’ apron and a pretty one to wear in front of guests?

Do you display your apron(s) or tuck it away?

Have aprons… and do use them ocassionally…  have some that are adjustable…and let my 10 year old granddaughter wear one when we bake together…

  • Schmitty:

    misspelled occasionally….sorry.

I seldom use aprons. To be honest, I usually cook in either my shorts or undies.  Drives DW nuts, and sometimes when bacon pops does burn.  Don’t care, would rather be comfortable.  Do dress and sometimes use aprons when cooking with grandaughter though.

If I’m wearing something nice I try and wear them. Often wear them when eating as I’m such a slob about about spilling stuff down the front of me.

I have an old denim shirt I wear a lot in the kitchen but I also have a couple of aprons I use.  One is old and stained so I use it when I am making something that might stain.

Hi Becky,  Yes, I do wear a full body apron most times because the grease spatters sometimes ruin my clothes and that really makes me angry.  It’s made of a heavyish cotton material that absorbs anything that happens to go flying wear it shouldn’t, and it has a mass of green peas in the shells all over it.  Not my favourite design, but it will do.  I usually keep it hidden in the drawer but if I had a place to hang it, I might consider that.

Interesting topic.  I figured that the apron would be one of those things that are fading away; judging by how difficult it is to come by a good one.

Hi,  I’m also an apron wearer depending on what I have on.  I like the full body cobbler aprons and keep them tucked away until needed.  The ones I have are mostly cotton prints and some belonged to my Grandma, so they are special. I would rather wear an apron that fight the laundry stains…and I just plain like them!  They are so ‘kicheny’!  Glad you brought this up! Thanks!

  • Meryl:

Never. I wear a long tee shirt.

I have one and seldom wear it….its decorative…and full…but I always keep it handy just in case…

  • Nalani:

Marian, I have made most of mine.  The bib sort and the cobbler sort.  Have some good patterns for them.  Have made them for other people too as gifts or for their businesses.

  • SherryPA:

Nalani,  I would click on the ‘like’ icon if we had one!

  • Abbenanny:

I’m really short (less than 5 feet) so I usually use one of my sons old shirts, they come past nt knees and I roll the sleeves up.

I just about always wear an apron.  I am 4’11″ and everything winds up on my front if I don’t.  I have a lot of aprons and some that are old and have a great deal of sentiment for me.  I have thought about making some but haven’t gotten around to it.
