If there's a way to delete a post, I'd like to delete the crockpot dessert recipe. I've had it before and it was pretty good, but I made it the other night and it was a sickeningly sweet mess. Don't know if my newer crockpot made a difference or not, but it was NOT good at all.

Wow! Thanks! I'm getting more into the crockpot cooking now that I'm home more and don't cook everything to mush. DH has been anti-crockpot from the years I worked. My friend just got a new cookbook ... I think it's called something like church potlucks and crockpot favorite recipes...something like that. I looked at it very briefly today...and it looks like it's loaded with good recipes. It looks like a textbook! I told her she needs to study that book religiously! I'll try to find it and let you know the correct name if interested

One more--I really love my crockpot--especially in the summer. This recipe is too easy!

CROCKPOT DESSERT (CD Kitchen)
1 can (21 ounce size) cherry or apple pie filling (blueberry is good, too)
1 package yellow cake mix
1/2 cup butter, melted

Place pie filling in crock pot. Combine dry cake mix and butter (will be crumbly) sprinkle over filling. Sprinkle with 1/3 cup chopped walnuts if you desire. Cover and cook on low for 3 hours.

This is really good. I made it several times last winter. I used cottage cheese rather than ricotta, a little more than 1 lb. of meat and I omitted the mushrooms. Just personal taste.

CROCK POT LASAGNA
8 lasagna noodles, uncooked
1 lb. ground beef or ground turkey
1 tsp. Italian Seasoning
28 oz. jar spaghetti sauce
1/3 cup water
1 small carton of fresh mushrooms
15 oz. ricotta or 24 oz. cottage cheese (can use low fat)
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 red pepper
1 sweet onion

1. Break noodles. Place half in bottom of greased slow cooker or use a Reynolds Slow Cooker Bag and there's no mess.

2. Brown ground beef. Drain. Stir in Italian seasoning. Spread half over noodles in slow cooker.

3. Layer half of sauce and water, half of mushrooms, half the pepper, half of the onion, half of ricotta or cottage cheese and half of mozzarella cheese over beef. Repeat layers.

4. Cover. Cook on low for 4-5 hours. (You can also double these ingredients and make 3 layers.) With newer crock pots, 4 hours is enough.
