*Fortunately, I have a lemon tree in my back yard, so I know that there are no pesticides on the tree. And yes Patti, I have been know to throw the peel of lemon, orange and grapefruit down the disposal. Makes the kitchen smell good.

Whether or not it will help beat Cancer by eating the "whole" lemon is debatable, but it couldn't hurt to add it to our diet as much as possible.

If you zest the skin and use the juice, throw the rest down the garbabe disposal--makes it smell fresh and you've used the whole lemon!

*I am generally skeptical of health claims of this sort, so I went to Snopes. They state that "the best that can be said at this point is that citrus fruits may potentially harbor anti-cancer properties that could help ward off cancer. No reputable scientific or medical studies have reported that lemons have been found to be a "proven remedy against cancers of all types," nor has any of the (conveniently unnamed) "world's larges drug manufacturers" reported discovering that lemons are "10,000 times stronger than chemotherapy" ......

source: http://www.snopes.com/medical/disease/lemons.asp

*Some great ideas, but I learned a few years ago about how much pesticide resides in the rinds and peels of fruit even after a thorough washing. I am by no means an organic-only person, but in the case of eating peels and rinds where the chemicals are concentrated, I would suggest only saving the peels of organic, but still well washed lemons. My 2 cents :)
