*I had no problems getting into the RC or accessing my pages.

  • Catgurrl:

I am having problems logging in and posting recipes. I can’t post any new recipes at all and What’s New seems to be having a problem as well. I hope it’s back up and running soon! Thanks for all you do, JB~

*Catgurrl,  What is the error you are getting posting recipes?

    JB

  • I can access it, but can’t seem to post a recipe.  The problem occurs when I have typed in the recipe and hit ‘submit recipe’.  That works fine and I can see the recipe.  At that point I hit ‘save recipe’ and get a message saying “recipe not found” as if I had been searching for a recipe instead of trying to saving one.  If I open a new session and look in my RC cookbook (Kim’s Cookbook), the new recipe is not there.  Thanks, JB!

  • Becky:

*I just tried to add a recipe and when I hit the save recipe, I got the same error message as Kim.

*Thanks everyone.   I will see about getting it fixed,

    JB

*The trouble seems to be with Formatted Recipes.  Can some of you try to create Recipe using the Free Form type.

  • Catgurrl:

    * Hi JB,

I tried both (formatted and free-form). Neither is working for me. I get this error message and it occurs upon trying to save the recipe:

    Recipe
    Not Found!

    Sorry,
we looked and looked but we could not find that recipe.

    If
you found this recipe in one of the search engines like Google,
Yahoo!, or MSN it may have changed since the last time the search
    engine indexed our site.

    Try
searching below. Sometimes it is simply a matter of lower and upper
    case.

I hope this helps, and that you are able to resolve things soon! Thanks again!

  • I never use anything but free form.

*OK, it’s back to work for me.

  • Hi JB, well I am the member that contacted you with the problem of being able to get the board.  I am still having trouble accessing the board at home and in a public library typing this.  I spent 6 hours with Microsoft yesterday and then another 30 minutes having to put Norton back on.  We have not resolved the issue, but we know what the problem is.

It is not a Microsoft type problem.  It is a problem with the proxy setting of my computer apparently.  After 5 3/4 hours, I used a program called ultra surf that bypasses the proxy settings on the computer.  It was fine for the old board, but it is the only site I have a problem with on my computer.  I had to put on and take off a lot of my programs to troubleshoot the problem.  It is not my computer and my roommate became upset, but understanding.  I have to call my cable company and work with them on this issue, but they will make me take off the antivirus software again and then have to call Norton people to put it back on.  All other sites work well with both Google Chrome and Internet Explorer.  I can’t reach the Recipe Circus board on either unless I use this temporary ultrasurf  software to bypass proxy settings. It doesn’t work in Chrome though.

I am also experiencing not being able to post with the ultra soft software and getting the same message as others when I hit save.  It says the recipe is not found.  I sure hope that my ISP can resolve the issue of not being able to reach the board.  It has been a frustrating day yesterday, and I spent long hours on the phone.  The computer at home is used for business purposes as well as my pleasure so I don’t want to mess up their computer just for one site.  I am sure you are frustrated as well, but unfortunately that is the hazards of upgrading and a solution will certainly be found.  I sure hope that I can get it fixed on my end as I am going for major surgery and it will be impossible for me to travel to the library.

Thank you for all you do for the members here.  My best to Mimi.

  • Oops, I meant not being able to reach the board.  Sorry.

  • jb:

*Judi, the problem you were having with the proxy server is not related to the server problem we are having with posting recipes on the Recipe Circus.  I am working with my tech support to resolve teh problem but I still don’t have an ETA.

But think how far we have come along in the past 20 years.  We are even talking about Proxy servers and we sorta know what it means.

    It’s been quite a journey!

*The RecipeCircus issue may be fixed.  Can I get some people to start posting again.  Just do one or two.  Make sure you start by logging on again.

I’m not 100% confident because you don’t know that it is fixed until it never happens again.

    Thank for you help,

    JB

  • Becky:

*I was able to log in and add a recipe.  Thanks for fixing it, JB.

  • Working for me now!  Thanks, JB!!

  • Catgurrl:

    * It’s up and running again! :) Thank you for all the hard work you put into fixing it, JB~

  • *I’m so glad that you were able to fix it.  Many thanks for your hard work troubleshooting the problem.  I have not gotten my proxy issue resolved yet, but with a program called UltraSurf I was able to post to the board this morning.  It is a handy program to keep around if you can’t connect for any reason.  It bypasses your internet provider’s settings so that you are able to get where you want to.
