Firefighter's Cookbook
Hamburger Stew

3-4lbs lean ground beef
2-3 cups water
3 cans (16 oz) tomato sauce
2 cans (6 oz.) tomato paste
5 large potatoes, peeled and chopped into 1/4 inch pieces
3 cans corn niblets, drained
2 large stalks celery, roughly chopped
1 large onion, roughly chopped
4 large carrots, peeled and sliced into 1/4 inch circles
salt and pepper to taste

Cook the beef in a skillet until browned. Drain off the fat. Place the meat in a stew pot, (extra large, with a lid) along with the water, tomato sauce, tomato paste, potatoes, corn, celery, onion, and carrots. Season with salt and pepper. Mix well. Cover with the lid and simmer on medium-low heat until the potatoes are cooked (about 2 hours). Serve nice and hot.
