Cornell Barbecue Sauce

posted by Elle 05-16-100 6:02 AM

Cornell Barbecue Sauce

1 cup cooking oil
1 pint cider vinegar
3 Tbl. salt
1 Tbl. poultry seasoning
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 egg

Beat the egg, add the oil and beat again. Add all the other ingredients and blend. The salt can be reduced or eliminated altogether, for health reasons or to suit personal taste.

Baste chicken and grill on one side for 6 minutes. Turn, baste and grill another 6 or more minutes until chicken is tender and no longer pink.

Note: It is cooked slower and longer on a pit grill.

Note: a Cornell Cooperative Extension special, makes enough sauce for 10 chicken halves. Whatever is left over can be stored in a glass jar and refrigerated for several weeks.
