Arizona Kid's Sweet and Spunky Barbecue Sauce
Recipe By : Midwest Living Magazine
Serving Size : 0 Preparation Time :0:00
Categories : Midwest Living Sauces
Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method
-------- ------------ --------------------------------
1 cup ketchup
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1 small onion -- sliced or chopped
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons molasses
2 teaspoons dry mustard
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper
1/4 teaspoon lemon juice

Combine all ingredients in a large saucepan; bring to boiling. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Cool. Store, tightly covered, in the refrigerator for 1 week. Makes about 1 2/3 cups.

Notes : Former Arizonan Roger Wagner, now of Holly, Michigan, has won 42 awards since he started competitive barbecuing 16 years ago. One reason for his success: this all-purpose sauce. It lends a tangy kick to anything it touches.
