Pareve White Bread

1 tsp. sugar
1/2 c warm water
1 pkg. yeast
2 3/4 c flour
3 T. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c warm water
3 T. vegetable oil

Dissolve yeast in 1/2 c warm water. Sprinkle yeast over and let stand 10 minutes, until foamy. Stir to dissolve.

In food processor, using steel knife: place flour in processor and process 5 seconds. Add dissolved yeast through feed tube and process 10 seconds. Combine remaining water with oil and add through feed tube while machine is running. Process until dough forms a ball on the blades. Let machine knead dough for about 30-40 seconds from the time the ball stage is reached.

Knead on a very lightly floured board 1-2 minutes, until smooth. Round up in a greased bowl, cover with foil, and let rise until double in bulk, about 1-2 hours. Punch down. Roll dough on a lightly floured board into a 9" X 12" rectangle. Roll up sausage style from the shorter side. Seal ends by pressing down with the edge of your hand. Place seem side down in 9" X 5" loaf pan. Cover with a tea towel, and let rise until double, about 1 hour.

Bake at 400F. for about 20 minutes. Remove from pan immediately. Cool away from drafts.
YEILD: 1 loaf.

NOTE: If desired, you can make individual dinner rolls, hamburger or hot dog rolls from this recipe. Just shape accordingly.
