BBQ Prawns

This is adapted from Alexandra Michell (1985), "Particular Picnics", Thomas Nelson, Melb. Vic. ISBN: 0 17 0065146.

I kg (~ sl. less than 2 lb) large green (ie. raw) prawns in shell
juice of 4 limes or lemons
6 cloves garlic, crushed
2 tabs. (Aus), that's 3 tabs (US/ Euro) chopped coriander (cilantro / Chinese parsley)
1/2 teasp, salt
fresh ground black pepper
125ml (1/2 cup) oil


Place unshelled prawns in large non-porous bowl. Mix remaining ingredients together and pour over prawns. Stir to coat with dressing and allow to marinate for at least 1 hr. (covered).

Grill over charcoal and serve with wedges of limes or lemons.
