To-Fu Doen Jang Chi Gae

posted by Becky 07-22-99 9:05 PM

To-Fu Doen Jang Chi Gae
(to-fu with soybean paste)

2 oz lean beef
1 oz clams, frozen or canned
1 lb to-fu, cubed
2 c water

Seasonings:
1 tsp sesame oil
2 tbsp soybean paste
1/2 tbsp red pepper paste, or to taste
5 - 6 myul chi (dried fish)
2 dried mushrooms, soaked and sliced
1 medium onion, sliced
1/2 clove garlic, finely crushed
1 sliced green onion for garnish

Wash and cut the beef and the clams into very thin strips. Using the blunt end of a knife, pound them lightly. Place them in a medium saucepan and add the seasoning ingredients - (not the green onion)-. Stir fry for about 5 minutes over medium high heat. Add 1/2 cup of water at a time.

Wash and cut the tofu into cubes, about 1 1/2 inches each. Add the cubes to the boiling sauce and cook for 5 or 6 more minutes. Add the sliced green onions before serving.
