Harvest Moon Brew
2 quarts fresh apple cider
2 quarts cranberry juice cocktail
1-1/2 quarts orange juice
1 orange studded with whole cloves
4 cinnamon sticks
Orange slices, for garnish
Apple slices, for garnish
Light rum, optional
Combine the cider, cranberry juice cocktail, orange juice, orange, and cinnamon sticks in a large kettle.
Place over low heat, bring to a low simmer, and simmer for 2 hours. Just before serving, add the orange and apple slices. To serve, ladle directly from the kettle into mugs or heavy glasses and stir in rum to taste, if desired.
Makes about 30 (6-oz.) drinks, more if rum is added
