Cider: Down East Hot Buttered Rum

posted by Plano_Gal 01-13-103 5:42 PM

Down East Hot Buttered Rum

2 tsp. brown sugar
1 cup apple cider
Cinnamon stick
4 whole cloves
1 piece lemon peel
2 oz. gold label rum
Small pat butter
Grated nutmeg

In a warmed mug (the book I have says to warm the mugs by filling with hot water and let sit for a few minutes, then pour out)add sugar and a little cider that had been heated to the boiling point. Stir until sugar is dissolved, and add cinnamon, cloves, lemon peel, and rum. Fill with hot cider, stir, and top with butter and grated nutmeg.
