Beef Minced Beef on Toast

MINCED BEEF ON TOAST
(Using one pound of ground beef )
Beef, ground -------------------1 pound
Onions, chopped ----------------3/4 cup
*Shortening ------------------- 1 TBSP
Flour, all-purpose -------------1/4 cup
Tomatoes, canned ---------------1 1/4 cup
Mace or Nutmeg -----------------1/2 tsp
Salt ---------------------------1/4 tsp
Pepper, black ------------------1/8 tsp
Water --------------------------- ½ cup
*Note. Shortening may be omitted if ground beef has sufficient fat.
