Cholent, Crockpot #4, Savta's - pareve

Posted by : Lita Lotzkar

Ingredients:

     3 tbsp barley
     3 tbsp rice
3-4 tbsp bean mix (use small beans)
     3 tbsp kasha (buckwheat)
2 tbsp soup powder (3 bullion cubes)
     2 tsp salt
2 tsp garlic powder (measuring is unnecessary, just sprinkle on top)
     5 carrots cut into chunks
     1 large onion diced
     mushrooms
     tbsp honey
     tbsp soy sauce
     some potatoes

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients except potatoes. If soy sauce is salty do not
     put in salt.
  2. Put potatoes on top. For best results, use small potatoes.
  3. Add water to cover plus an extra half inch.
  4. Put in crock pot on low at 4pm, and turn it off the next day at 11 am.
It will be ready to serve for noon.

Remember that crock pot recipes must be mixed more thoroughly because while
other recipes will be stirred when they boil, crock pot recipes won't.
