Sweets: Walnut Carob Halvah - pareve

Posted by : Lita

"Cut into slices, this delicious confection makes a lovely scalloped edging
around your desert platter." says Jane Kinderlehrer in her book "Cooking
Kosher The NEW Way."

Walnut Carob Halvah

1/4 cup tahini (sesame butter)
1/4 cup honey
1/2 cup unsweetened coconut flakes
1/2 cup wheat germ
1/2 cup sunflower seeds
2 Tbsp carob powder
1/2 cup crushed walnuts

In a medium-sized bowl, combine the tahini and honey. In blender or food
processor, whiz coconut, wheat germ and sunflower seeds to a powder. Add
the carob powder. Combine the dry mixture with the tahini mixture. Knead until
it resembles a ball of dough. Separate into 4 portions. Shape each portion
into a one-inch thick roll. Roll each portion in crushed walnuts. Wrap
individually in waxed paper. Refrigerate. Cut into 1/4 inch slices as
needed. Makes 4 rolls, 24 slices in each roll.
