Onion Sauce, Joan's for Hot Dogs - pareve

Posted by : Joan Ross

I made a great onion sauce recipe, similar to the onion pushcart sauce
and great over kosher hot dogs

Joan's Onion sauce for Hot dogs

1 3 lb bag of onions
oil or parve margarine to saute
1 small can of tomato sauce
white sugar to taste
white vinegar to taste
salt, pepper, minced garlic, paprika, (red pepper sauce to taste)

Coarse chop or slice onions and saute in a small of amount of oil or
margarine until crisp tender. Add and blend in some tomato paste to
color, sugar, vinegar, spices to taste and contine to simmer to blend
flavors and onions are tender.
Note: this is not sweet sour, more savory and spicy. So adjust
accordingly
If you like lot a bit of hotness, add some red pepper sauce to tate.
Refrigerate well covered. Spoon over the hot dogs.
Enjoy!
