Candy: Chocolate Toffee Matzot - dairy

Posted by : Karen Selwyn

1/2 pound matzot (approximately)
1 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
12 ounces chocolate chips
1 cup chopped pecans or crumbled toffee candy (optional)

Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Line 2 jellyroll pans with aluminum foil.
Divide matzot between the pans, placing it in a single layer with no
space between the pieces.

Melt butter and brown sugar. Boil until mixture coats a spoon (3 to 5
minutes or more). Pour mixture over matzot. Bake for 4 minutes; remove
from oven.

Sprinkle the chocolate chips on top. Return to the oven for 1 minute.
Remove from the oven and gently spread the melted chocolate to cover as
completely as possible. Sprinkle with chopped nuts or toffee candy, if
desired.

Cool completely in the refrigerator. Break into pieces and store in a
covered tin in the refrigerator. Makes about 2 pounds of candy or 16
servings.
