1 cup uncooked prunes
1 quart water
1 cup rice or farfel
1/2 cup honey or brown sugar
juice and grated rind of 1 lemon
1/2 cup butter or non-dairy margarine
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
pinch of salt
Soak prunes for several hours in 1 quart of water in the pot
in which they are to cook. Add rice or farfel and bring to
a boil. Reduce heat. Add the remaining ingredients and
simmer for 30 minutes. Brown under the broiler for a few
minutes. Serves 6 to 8.
