Kasha Varnishkes #2, Elaine's - meat

        Yield: 4 servings
 
           
      1    Egg; beaten
      1 c  Kasha; Brown Buckwheat Groat
      1 ts Salt
      1 lg Onion; chopped
      1/4 c  Schmaltz
      2 c  -Water
      1 c  Bow ties
 
  Combine egg, Kasha and salt. In medium frying pan cook
  onion in shortening 3 minutes. Stir Kasha mixture and
  water; bring to boil. Cook, tightly covered over low
  heat 15 min. Cook pasta according to package
  directions; drain. Add pasta to Kasha, toss lightly to
  mix well.
