Halvah, Russian - dairy

  Amount  Measure       Ingredient -- Preparation Method
--------  ------------  --------------------------------
   1      c             sugar
     1/2  c             water
     1/2  c             butter -- preferably clarified
   2      c             all-purpose flour -- sifted
                        cinnamon

In a small saucepan bring the sugar and water to a boil over high heat,
stirring constantly to dissolve the sugar. Remove from the heat and set
aside. In a heavy skillet melt the butter. Add the flour and cook over low
heat about 15 min. or until very lightly browned, stirring constantly. 
Gradually stir in the syrup until thoroughly blended turn onto a serving
planner. smooth the top, springle with the cinnamon, and serve.
NOTE: Honey is sometimes substituted for the sugar syrup.
