Date and Nut Pudding #1 - dairy

Dates are an important food in Jewish tradition.  The honey 
mentioned in the phrase "the land flowing with milk and honey"
is date honey.

2 cups dates, pitted and chopped
1 cup walnut halves
3/4 cup flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 eggs
1 tablespoon sugar
butter

Sweetened whipped cream

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees.  Butter a 9-inch square baking dish.

In a bowl, combine the dates, walnuts, flour, baking powder and salt.

Beat the eggs with sugar in a small bowl.  Add to the date mixture and
mix well.  Pour the mixture into the baking dish.

Bake for 40 minutes.

To serve, cut the pudding in squares.  Serve warm with sweetened whipped
cream.
