Posted by : Judith Sobel

Here is the recipe that I received from Nancy Machinton. It is the
closest to my mother-in-law's Bulkas that I have found.

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method
-------- ------------ --------------------------------
   2 lbs flour
   2 TBS sour cream
   2 pkg dry yeast
   4 eggs
     1/4 cup butter -- melted
     1/4 cup oil
   1 cup sugar
          filling
                        melted butter
                        cinnamon and sugar
                        raisins and nuts (optional)

Proof yeast in 1/2 cup warm water plus 1 tsp sugar for 10-15 minutes.

Add flour and then the rest of the dough ingredients. Knead then
shape intoa ball and place in a buttered bowl and allow to double in
bulk.

Punch down dough and roll out on floured surface. Brush with melted
butter and sprinkle with filling and roll (as for a jelly roll). Cut
into slices and place in greased pan. Allow to double in bulk.

Bake in a 375 degree oven 20-30 minutes.
