Goulash Soup (Gulyasleves)

1 LB. each beef, pork, lamb
1/2 LB. each ham and smoked Hungarian/German sausage
3 Tbl. butter
6 onions, chopped
2 tomatoes, diced
2 Tbl. paprika
1 tsp. pepper
2 green peppers, diced
6 Cups boiling water
4 potatoes, peeled and cut into cubes


Cut the meats into 1/2" cubes.

Melt the butter in a large saucepan, add the onions and cubed meats until all is browned, stirring frequently. Add the paprika and black pepper and cook over low heat for 30 minutes. Add the green peppers, tomatoes and water. Continue cooking for 1 hour. Add the potatoes and cook 30 minutes longer.

There is no salt in this recipe as the sausage usually has enough. If you want to add correct seasonings before serving.
