Cottage Sauce 
4 Tablespoons butter 
4 Tablespoons flour 
2 cups hot water 
2 cups sugar 
2 teaspoons vanilla extract 
In a medium saucepan melt the butter. Remove from heat and gradually add in the flour until you have a smooth texture. Slowly add the water and mix again until smooth. 
Add the sugar and bring the sauce to a rolling boil for at least several minutes until it thickens, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and add vanilla. 
Serve warm over pound cake.  
Serves 6-8 
This recipe can be halved or doubled when necessary. It should also be declared an illegal substance because it is so darn tasty.
