Bavarian Salad 
1 large can (3 - 3 1/2 cups) sauerkraut 
1/2 can (1 cup) bean sprouts, or fresh ones 
1/4 cup water chestnuts, sliced (or more) 
1 cup chopped celery 
1/2 cup chopped onion 
1/2 cup chopped bell pepper 
1 tablespoon chopped parsley or 1 tea. dried flakes 
1 small jar pimento, chopped 
Dressing: 
1 cup sugar 
1/2 cup vinegar 
Boil for two minutes, stirring to dissolve sugar.   
 
Cool.  
Pour dressing over kraut mixture and let stand at least 24 hours.
