Herbed Lentils and Rice

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

4 ounces shredded Swiss cheese -- didived 
3/4 cup dried lentils -- washed and sorted 
3/4 cup chopped onion 
1/2 cup brown rice 
3 1/2 cups chicken broth 
1/4 cup Burgundy or other dry red wine 
1/2 teaspoon dried basil 
1/4 teaspoon salt 
1/4 teaspoon oregano leaves 
1/4 teaspoon thyme 
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder 
1/8 teaspoon pepper 


Preheat oven to 350 F.

Combine 1/2 cup cheese and remaining ingred. in large bowl; stir well. 

Pour into ungreased 2-qt casserole.

Cover and bake for 2 hrs., or until lentils are tender, stirring occasionally.

Uncover and sprinkle with remaining cheese.   

Bake 5 min. more or till cheese melts.
