Sherried Turkey Casserole

3 cups turkey meat, cooked and cubed
2 (10 3/4 oz.) cans cream of mushroom soup
1 can mushrooms, or 1/4 pound fresh, sliced mushrooms
1/2 pound cheddar cheese, grated
1/2 cup bread crumbs, fine and dry
2 tablespoons butter, or margarine
1 medium onion, finely diced
1/2 to 3/4 cup sherry
1/4 tsp. oregano
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. black pepper

Spread some of the turkey meat on the bottom of a 2 quart casserole dish. Over the turkey spoon some of the mushroom soup, then mushrooms, some cheese and some diced onions. Repeat layers until casserole is near full.

Mix together salt, pepper and oregano and sprinkle over top. Pour sherry over casserole.

Saute the bread crumbs in 2 tablespoons butter -- spread on top of casserole. Bake for 20 minutes at 350 deg.
