My Grandmother's Smothered Chicken

1 frying chicken
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. black pepper
1/4 tsp. thyme
1/4 tsp. sage
1/4 tsp. savory
1/4 c. flour
1 medium onion, chopped
cooking oil (enough to deep fry)
1 1/2 c. water
1/3 c. sour cream

Preheat oven to 350 F.

Cut chicken into serving pieces. Wash and dry. Sprinkle spices over chicken and roll in flour. Deep fry chicken in hot oil.

Place fried chicken in a baking pan with onions and water. Cover and bake in 350 degrees oven for 30 minutes.

Mix sour cream with 1/4 cup water and add to chicken while hot.
