Baby Back Ribs

1 medium onion, sliced
1 1/2 cups catsup
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
4 tablespoons dark corn syrup
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. paprika
1 tsp. chili powder, or more to taste


The night before: Place ribs in a large pot, then add cold water to cover and sliced onion. Heat to boiling over high heat. Reduce heat to low; cover; simmer 1 hour. Drain; cover and chill overnight.

In a medium bowl combine catsup and remaining ingredients for sauce. Place ribs on broiler pan (backside up). Brush with sauce, broil 7 minutes. Don't let them get too black. Turn ribs and brush top with sauce.

Broil 10 minutes more brushing with sauce several times. Serve with more sauce. (can be cooked on the grill instead of in the oven).
