Never-Fail Fudge

2-1/2 cups sugar
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 stick butter or margarine
3/4 cup evaporated milk (5.33 oz.)
7-1/2-oz. Marshmallow Fluff®
3/4 teaspoon vanilla
12-oz. semisweet chocolate pieces
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped

Grease a 9-inch square baking pan, then set aside. Combine first 5 ingredients in a large saucepan, stirring over low heat until blended.

Heat to a full-rolling boil. (Be careful not to mistake escaping air bubbles for boiling.)

Boil slowly for 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Stir in chocolate and vanilla until chocolate is melted. Stir in nuts.

Turn into greased pan and cool. Makes 2-1/2 pounds.

And did it fail? The Marshmallow Fluff® folks say: "Assuming measuring and preparation instructions were followed correctly, the failure is likely the result of wrong cooking time or temperature.

We suggest you first make sure the ingredients are boiling and not just simmering.

Next, you should test a small quantity of the boiled liquid by dropping it into an ice cold glass of water. When cooled and a soft ball can be formed with the fingers, cooking is complete."
